1st day of Kindergarten

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Reagan started Kindergarten on Monday. A great school in our neighborhood. She actually wasn't as nervous as I was. I wasn't quite sure how I would handle myself. My first baby going away to school. Oh where have the years gone?

We got to the school about 30 seconds before the bell. Just long enough for me to wipe off some sweat from the 105 degrees weather at 8:30 in the morning. Not to mention battling traffic with a gabillion cars, all acting like Nascar racers in the parking lot. Two kids in tow, a lunch box, backpack walking in the crosswalk to a world that neither Reagan nor I have experienced.

The first bell rang and Reagan looked at me confused. I explained to her that was the sound telling you that class is starting. I walked her to her room maneuvering our way through a sea of 5 years olds. The teachers were pushing the kids in their room as fast as they could. I think they do it on purpose so neither the moms or the kids have an idea of what is going on. When I realized at the last minute, I yelled at Reagan to come give me a kiss and off she was. :)

Hunter and I waited around until about 3 to pick her up and when I saw her she had a big smile on her face. She had had a loose tooth that we thought might fall out during school but it was still there.
I took her to get ice cream after school as a treat. As we were sitting there talking about her day, her tooth fell out onto the table. :)

What a big day for her and me. I can't believe I'll have to do that again with Hunter in a few years.

Walking to school

I snuck in at the last minute and snapped this- Reagan is under the arrow on the carpet with her little eyes looking over the desk at me

Bagels, Tears and Friday Funny!

Friday, July 24, 2009

Last night we went to meet Reagan's kindergarten teacher. She starts Kindergarten on Monday and I'm feeling mixed emotions. It's kind of bitter sweet for me. I really do want her to move on and she is so ready to start. On the other hand, I'm really going to miss having her all day and I know Hunter will miss her terribly. They play so well together and have been together a lot lately. I'll definitely have to find some things for him to do.

Her teacher was really nice and I love her school. Mike and I ventured into the cafeteria. The PTO was in there selling things, giving things away, looking for volunteers. I started volunteering Mike and I for some events and Mike had to pull the pen from my hand. He gave me "the look". I might have gotten a little carried away. But I want to be involved and Mike looks at the part where I complain I never have time to sleep, I'm stressed out blah blah. I'm sure he's sick of hearing that. So I limited myself as much as I could or to a point Mike was ok with it. :)
They gave all the parents an invitation to meet in the media room after we drop off the kids the first morning. They'll have bagels and coffee for the parents. It's a way for all of us to meet each other and honestly probably cry our eyeballs out. I can only imagine all 100 of us sitting around, comforting each other, hugging everyone and reminding us they will be home at 3:00pm. I'm looking forward to it. :)

So wish me luck on Monday morning- I'll have to battle a gabillion other sad moms trying to learn how to drop off their kids the right away in the parking lot.
Remember that famous scene from Mr. Mom in 1983 when he tries to drop off the kids and it's raining and everyone keeps yelling at him "YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!!!" I'm sure that will be me!

I haven't had a Friday Funny in awhile and someone sent this to me this morning-

300th, Birthday and Noses

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

THIS IS MY 300TH POST!!! And what better way to celebrate than to post it on Hunter's 3rd birthday- 3 is a good number today....

Hunter was born 3 years ago today. The hottest day of the year in 2006- it was 118 degrees outside. Ugh!
My lil' man came into this world at 9:28am at 7lbs 4oz. 19 3/4 inches. He was a little guy but has a LARGE personality. He really has been such a blessing and so much fun and really makes us laugh.

I've never known a kid who really was destine to be a rock star but mark my words- Hunter Hank will be the next big thing. He loves music, playing the drums, playing the guitar, signing, you name it.

He keeps us on our toes, he's constantly jumping off things, sliding on the floor, running in circles, you name it. In fact just the other night Hunter started sneezing. Continuously and wouldn't stop.

Me: " Hunter why are you sneezing? Do you have something up your nose?"
Hunter: " No mom, I got nofing in my nose. Nofing mom."

I pick up Hunter, lay him on the counter and look up his nose. I don't see anything. But he keeps rubbing his nose, keeps sneezing.
Mike tells me he knows something is up there and I keep arguing that we don't see anything. And then one more big sneeze, and guess what pops out? A dime size rhinestone from one of Reagan's princess things.
Thank goodness we didn't have to spend the night in the ER to have it removed. We of course gave him the nice talk of NEVER PUT THINGS UP YOUR NOSE!!!!
It's one of those moments you kind of laugh at and just walk away shaking your head- that is our son!!

Happy Birthday Hunter, we love you so much!! :)

Where have I been?

Friday, July 10, 2009

Where has the summer gone- my goodness! It's already the middle of July. I've been lacking on the blog postings- simply because it's so stinkn' hot, I can't stand it. So we have pulled down the shades, turned up the air and tried to sit still so we don't sweat.
Reagan is starting Kindergarten in 17 days and it's all bitter sweet for me. I'm really excited for her to start Kindergarten, but on the same note, it's my last summer with her. When she went to preschool it was for a few hours just a few days a week- now Kindergarten is all day every day. I'm gonna miss her during the day and I'm sure Hunter will too. So I've been trying to do some fun stuff this summer with them.

Also I colored my hair- quite drastic from my blonde. But all blondes know you get to a point where you are sick of your color- it starts turning a nasty bland mustard color, your roots are down to your ears and it costs a million dollars to fix it every 6 weeks. So I went dark- and I mean dark. My natural dark. Have had that in a long time. Don't think my husband likes it much but he pretends too.
So I did it myself- when you used to do hair, it's pretty easy and a lot cheaper to do it yourself.

Later that day in the car my kids were asking me questions about why I had colored my hair

Reagan: "why did you color your hair?"
Me: "oh I mommy just wanted a change."
Hunter: "you have your brown one now?"
Me:"yes Hunter, my hair is brown now."
Hunter: "where is your yellow one?"

(I sense Conversations with Hunter in the horizon very soon!

I have some BIG news (no I'm not pregnant) and some announcements coming up really soon so stay put and keep checking back.
I'll be sending out my fall family portrait schedule soon so you'll want to book your session as soon as possible. Last year it filled up quickly. I should have all the dates and details posted soon!

Also a reminder if you want to automatically get e-mails of my blog postings you can subscribe by clicking here

And now back to business....
A couple of weeks ago I did a special for Father's Day and The Graham Family took me up on it. Unfortunately we live in the hottest state in America and Father's Day just happens to be in June. So we decided to do a little fun stuff of hanging out in the house and letting the boys play and do what was most fun.
